The Strategic Support Interventionist (SSI) teacher is part of Comanche’s innovative student support program called Response to Intervention (RtI). The Cub Academy will assist students with being proficient in achieving grade level expectations. As part of RtI, a reading assessment will be administered to students during each semester. The classroom teacher and SSI will determine which children will receive additional supports as identified by assessment outcomes. Children who are identified will receive Reading support from both the classroom teacher and SSI teacher.
The Strategic Support Interventionist will provide scientific, research-based Reading interventions to students in addition to receiving the core curriculum provided by their classroom teacher. Student progress will be monitored and data based decisions will be made regarding the interventions used. Student progress will be shared with classroom teachers and families.
